It is one of the 23 National Parks in Poland, created in 1959. In 1993, it became part of the border UNESCO Karkonosze Biosphere Reserve.
It is a place of extraordinary natural and cultural values. Combining mountain peaks, numerous wetlands, waterfalls and peat bogs, it is one of the favorite National Parks in Poland. The highest peak is Śnieżka, which rises to a height of 1603 m above sea level. The park area is accessible to walkers and cyclists. There are 33 hiking trails with a total length of over 100 km.
